Walpole Kids Comics
In 2020, I began submitting weekly comic strips to a free newspaper called Walpole Weekly. Walpole Kids went on to appear in multiple Great Southern newspapers, 2 self published books and an arts documentary. While the comic took a break in early 2023, it returns once in a while when I have the time.
I'm still working on an online shop so if you are interested in purchasing Walpole Kids comic books, please contact me directly.
Walpole Kids Comics makes the news
2D Animation
As a 2D animator, I gained online success with multiple Doctor Who parody animations in the early days of YouTube and worked 2 series for a BBC Children's programme titled, Little Howard's Big Question.
I have a National Diploma in Moving Image and a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in Animation from Arts University Plymouth (UK).
Comic Readings & Workshops
Since 2022, I have successfully run 3 children's Comic Making workshops with the Walpole CRC and Cinefest Oz. These sessions cover the basics of character development and storytelling in comics.
Along with workshops, I also do Walpole Kids live comic readings. My first reading was at Perth Comic Arts Festival's Gross & Weird held in 2023. This event showcased a selection of incredible children's author-illustrators including Campbell Whyte, Aśka, James Foley and Sean E Avery. I later read during Perth Festival's Writer's Weekend at the WA State Library in 2024.
Other Comics
In 2019, I released my first self-published comic book, Tomothy and the Time Travel Shoes. The concept and characters came from a long running series of unreleased comics and animations.
My comics have appeared in two Anthologies: It was different for him was a full-page comic reaction to the COVID-19 lock downs. The strip featured in the West Coast Comic Anthology published by Neighbourhood Press in 2021. In 2024, I produced a full-page newspaper style comic on the subject of AI called Apple & Biscuit. This strip was printed in TALE TOWN, a comic journal for Perth Comic Arts Festival.

Misc.
I have produced amateur Live Action short films including an Arts Documentary with the support of Regional Arts WA and the Walpole CRC.
In my spare time I like to dabble with song making. This involves a MIDI keyboard, some lyrics and occasionally a Melodica. Some of my songs are in collaboration with Perth musician and producer, Daniel Symons with our band, Artificial Colours.
